Galat\u00e9e Films is a feature film and documentary production company founded by actor, director and producer Jacques Perrin.<\/span><\/p>

Jacques Perrin’s first productions were socially-aware works of fiction echoing geopolitical events. The first of these was the film <\/span>Z<\/span><\/i> by Costa Gavras which won Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film and Best Editing in 1970. In 1975, <\/span>Special Section<\/span><\/i>, a film about the special courts during the occupation of France in World War II, won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. One year later, <\/span>Black and White in Color<\/span><\/i>, Jean-Jacques Annaud’s debut film, about the involvement of colonial troops during the First World War, won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. In 1977 came <\/span>The Desert of the Tartars<\/span><\/i>, based on Dino Buzzati\u2019s novel <\/span>The Tartar Steppe<\/span><\/i>, directed by Valerio Zurlini, relating the never-ending wait for an enemy invasion on the borders of the Austro-Hungarian desert. The film won the Grand Prix du Cin\u00e9ma Fran\u00e7ais and the Donatello Award in Italy.<\/span><\/p>

Turning his interests to the wonders of Mother Nature, Jacques Perrin called on G\u00e9rard Vienne to direct a movie to inaugurate this new production cycle which was to become emblematic of Galat\u00e9e: <\/span>The Monkey Folk<\/span><\/i>, released in 1988. In order to film animals in their natural environment as closely as possible, Galat\u00e9e’s teams created new technologies specific to the filming process. This spirit of innovation has continued to drive Galat\u00e9e to develop technology to capture the richness of nature in order to better explore its mysteries and restore its beauty.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Whether it be socially-conscious works, historical dramas, nature documentaries or extraordinary stories, Galat\u00e9e’s strength lies in the high standards of its productions and the know-how it brings to the table with the desire to marvel and reveal. Jacques Simonet, known as Jacques Perrin, was the son of Alexandre Simonet, stage manager at the Com\u00e9die-Fran\u00e7aise and then prompter at the famous TNP theatre run by Jean Vilar, and of the actress Marie Perrin (whose matronym he later adopted as his stage name). He started his acting career as the dashing young male lead.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Jacques Perrin monte sur sc\u00e8ne d\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e2ge de 14 ans avant m\u00eame d\u2019entrer au conservatoire d\u2019Art Dramatique de Paris avec sa s\u0153ur Eva dans la classe de Jean Yonnel. On le voit dans de petits r\u00f4les de th\u00e9\u00e2tre et de cin\u00e9ma, notamment dans <\/span>Les Tricheurs<\/span><\/i> de Marcel Carn\u00e9 et dans <\/span>La V\u00e9rit\u00e9<\/span><\/i> d\u2019Henri-Georges Clouzot en 1960.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Mais c\u2019est le cin\u00e9ma italien qui lui offre, \u00e0 20 ans, son premier grand r\u00f4le aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Claudia Cardinale, dans <\/span>La Fille \u00e0 la valise<\/i>, de Valerio Zurlini. C\u2019est la grande \u00e9poque des coproductions franco-italiennes, et Jacques Perrin encha\u00eene divers films, notamment <\/span>La Corruption<\/i>, de Mauro Bolognini, et <\/span>Journal intime <\/i>(Lion d\u2019Or au Festival de Venise), dans lequel il interpr\u00e8te le jeune fr\u00e8re de Marcello Mastroianni, de nouveau sous la direction de Zurlini, qu\u2019il retrouvera bien plus tard pour porter \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran <\/span>Le<\/i> D\u00e9sert des Tartares<\/i>, d\u2019apr\u00e8s le romain de Dino Buzzati, en 1977.<\/span><\/p>

En 1964, de retour en France, Jacques Perrin fait deux rencontres capitales\u00a0: Costa-Gavras et Pierre Schoendoerffer. Le premier l\u2019embarque \u00e0 bord de <\/span>Compartiments tueurs<\/i>. Le second l\u2019enr\u00f4le, avec Bruno Cremer, dans <\/span>La 317<\/i>\u00e8me<\/i> Section<\/i>. Ils ont le m\u00eame sens de l\u2019aventure humaine. Ils tourneront ensemble <\/span>Crabe-Tambour<\/i> (1977), <\/span>L\u2019honneur d\u2019un capitaine<\/i> (1982), <\/span>L\u00e0-Haut. A 27 ans, Jacques Perrin se risque dans un nouveau m\u00e9tier, celui de producteur, dans lequel il va exceller. Il n\u2019y aurait pas song\u00e9 sans la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de rassembler des fonds pour permettre \u00e0 Costa-Gavras de r\u00e9aliser Z dans lequel il interpr\u00e8te un photo-reporter aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Jean-Louis Trintignant. Personne ne veut financer ce film politique sur la dictature des colonels grecs. Le film obtient l\u2019Oscar du Meilleur Film \u00e9tranger et celui du meilleur montage.<\/p>

Parall\u00e8lement, il poursuit une carri\u00e8re d\u2019acteur entre la France et l\u2019Italie. Jacques Demy l\u2019entra\u00eene dans la com\u00e9die musicale. Il devient le marin blond peroxyd\u00e9 des Demoiselles de Rochefort, puis le prince charmant de Peau d\u2019\u00e2ne (1970).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pour son second long-m\u00e9trage, Vittorio de Seta lui confie le r\u00f4le principal dans Un Homme \u00e0 moiti\u00e9 et c\u2019est avec ce film qu\u2019il obtient La Coupe Volpi de la Meilleure Interpr\u00e9tation Masculine au Festival de Venise en 1967.<\/p>

Jacques Perrin produit deux autres films de Costa Gavras, Etat de Si\u00e8ge (1972), avec Yves Montand, puis Section Sp\u00e9ciale, qui re\u00e7oit le Prix de la Mise en Sc\u00e8ne au Festival de Cannes 1976. La m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, il produit La Victoire en Chantant, premier film de Jean-Jacques Annaud, et obtient son troisi\u00e8me Oscar, celui du Meilleur Film Etranger.<\/span><\/p>

En 1988, Jacques Perrin tourne Cinema Paradiso sous la direction de Giuseppe Tornatore, avec Philippe Noiret.<\/span><\/p>

A la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, il joue dans plus de 40 t\u00e9l\u00e9films et s\u00e9ries comme Le ch\u00e2teau des Oliviers, et interpr\u00e8te des personnages historiques : Victor Sch\u0153lcher, Louis XI, Richelieu.<\/span><\/p>

Parall\u00e8lement, de 1991 \u00e0 2000, il produit, avec son \u00e9pouse, et pr\u00e9sente La 25\u00e8me heure sur France 2, \u00e9mission consacr\u00e9e aux \u0153uvres audiovisuelles ou cin\u00e9matographiques, courts et moyens m\u00e9trages, documentaires et parfois fictions.<\/span><\/p>

Depuis l\u2019enfance, Jacques Perrin est passionn\u00e9 par la nature et les relations que l\u2019homme entretient avec elle mais son alliance avec le cin\u00e9ma se fait \u00e0 travers deux films, Le Territoire des autres, documentaire animalier de Fran\u00e7ois Bel, G\u00e9rard Vienne et Michel Fano, qu\u2019il d\u00e9couvre en 1970, puis Le Peuple singe de G\u00e9rard Vienne qu\u2019il produit en 1989.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sa passion aventureuse l\u2019entra\u00eene peu \u00e0 peu \u00e0 \u00e9largir son champ d\u2019action \u00e0 partir de Microcosmos, le peuple de l\u2019herbe de Claude Nuridsany et Marie P\u00e9rennou qui lui vaut le C\u00e9sar du meilleur producteur en 1997.<\/p>

Avec Le Peuple migrateur qu\u2019il produit et cor\u00e9alise avec Jacques Cluzaud, il nous offre un fabuleux voyage en compagnie des oiseaux. Autant de pr\u00e9ludes \u00e0 son \u0153uvre la plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre, Oc\u00e9ans, \u00e9galement cor\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec son complice Jacques Cluzaud, hymne \u00e0 la mer qui c\u00e9l\u00e8bre la beaut\u00e9 de la nature pour mieux inciter \u00e0 la prot\u00e9ger.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

En 2016, Jacques Perrin est promu Commandeur de l\u2019Ordre National de la L\u00e9gion d\u2019honneur et est \u00e9lu membre de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts de l\u2019Institut de France.<\/p>

Il est Commandeur de l\u2019Ordre National du M\u00e9rite et Chevalier de l\u2019Ordre des Arts et Lettres.<\/p>

Nomm\u00e9 officier dans la r\u00e9serve citoyenne de la Marine Nationale, avec le grade de Capitaine de Fr\u00e9gate, il est \u00e9galement Peintre officiel de la Marine (POM).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
