THE MONKEY FOLK

RELEASE DATE JUNE 14th 1989

Documentary

It took five years of carefully-planned effort and patient shooting to get close to Earth’s main monkey species, from the Japanese Macaque to the most secretive of them all, the Bald Uakari of the Amazon jungle. Gérard Vienne captured crucial stages of their lives – childhood, games, social behavior, food, tools – concluding with the animals’ concern over man’s destruction of their natural habitat.
